Vital Home Health Services- CHSP Client Contribution Policy

Vital Home Health Services (VHHS) is committed to providing high-quality, fair and sustainable services to clients receiving support under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). In accordance with CHSP requirements, clients who can afford to contribute towards the cost of their services are expected to do so. VHHS ensures that client contributions are applied fairly and transparently and that clients experiencing financial hardship are appropriately supported.

Our Contribution Principles

VHHS applies client contributions in accordance with the principles of:

  • Consistency – Clients who can afford to contribute are expected to do so.
  • Transparency – Contribution arrangements and fees are clearly communicated to clients.
  • Fairness – Contributions will not exceed the actual cost of providing the service.
  • Hardship – Clients experiencing severe financial hardship may apply for a reduced contribution or exemption.
  • Sustainability – Contributions are used to support the ongoing delivery of VHHS CHSP services.
  • Reporting – Client contributions are recorded and reported as required under CHSP funding arrangements.

VHHS Client Contributions

The standard VHHS client contribution is $10.30 per hour of service. For clients receiving Social Support services that require transportation, a contribution of $2.50 per kilometre may also apply.

Clients are advised of applicable contributions before or when services commence. Contributions are generally collected monthly by direct debit, with the relevant arrangements included in the client’s Service Agreement.

Where two clients from the same household receive a shared service, such as domestic assistance, VHHS will ensure contributions are not unnecessarily duplicated. Where multiple services are provided, contributions may also be bundled where appropriate to keep costs fair.

Financial Hardship

VHHS recognises that some clients may be unable to afford the standard contribution. No client will be denied necessary services solely because of an inability to pay. Clients experiencing severe financial hardship may apply confidentially for a reduced contribution or full exemption. Applications are considered individually and may be approved for a defined period.

Further Information

Clients may contact Vital Home Health Services at any time if they have questions about their contribution, are experiencing difficulty making payments, or would like to request a financial hardship assessment.
