The Commonwealth Home Support Programme is a funding option suited for people who want to continue living at home,  but need some help with daily tasks, or require basic care.

What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?

The CHSP is an entry level home help programme for older people who are mostly, but not completely, able to live and cope on their own and don’t yet need higher levels of support at home. The programme is funded by the Australian Government.

What services are available under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?

Under CHSP you can access a range of services suited to your needs. Services provided under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) are designed to keep you

  • Safe in your home  
  • Connected to your community 

These range from food service to nursing and allied health services. Some CHSP services can be provided either at a community centre or in your home.

Who is eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)? 

Eligibility for this program is based on your support needs and age.  

If you are 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people), are still living at home and need help to continue living independently, get in touch with Vital Home Health Services, and we’ll be able to guide you.  

Applying for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) 

You will need to apply for an assessment, which can be done online here. Soon after the online application is complete, an assessor will come to visit you or your loved one to complete a face-to-face assessment. You can also contact us with any questions.
